About Contra Studios
Contra Studios is a multi-arts production, photo, and video studio located in Chelsea, NYC. Our 5,000 square foot facility boasts an open loft space with two seperate cyc wall studios (including a sound stage) perfect for film, photography, production, and events. Beautiful bright open shoot rooms, professional staff, and pro gear with all of the amenities needed for a wide variety of productions. Our newly built kitchen is fully functional includes a 36″ Gaggenau convection oven, 30″ induction stove top, and pro cookware. Two passenger elevators and a freight which opens direct to the floor insures a smooth work day. Studio A is our daylight studio with an 18′ x 43′ one corner cyc-wall, 11.5′ ceilings, exposed brick, and natural light. This room is perfect for fashion shoots, still life, e-commerce, and two camera interviews.
Studio B is a 3 wall, pre-lit soundproof soundstage, measuring 20′ x 43′, suitable for a variety of productions. Amenities include a grid, 120 amps of power, and ceiling mounted acoustic panels.
Contra is the only studio in Manhattan that offers clients a private floor with two cyc wall stages and a 2,000 sqft staging area. One stage rental gives you two shoot rooms- allowing clients to shoot photos and video in both Studio A & Studio B simultaneously.
